Ben Bakhtier

Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer

AWS · Kubernetes · Terraform · Agentic AI Workflows

Summary

With 6+ years of hands-on experience I design and operate cloud-native infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes. On an 8-person platform team, I build the golden paths, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps delivery that let 250+ product engineers ship without filing infrastructure tickets.

Today I'm extending that platform model with AI agents, applying them to code review, infrastructure operations, and incident diagnosis, with security, scoped permissions, and human approval built into the execution path.

Experience

CleverTap

Mountain View, CA · Sep 2023 to Present

Customer engagement and analytics SaaS platform

  • Senior Platform EngineerSep 2025 to Present
  • Cloud Engineer II, Platform InfrastructureSep 2023 to Aug 2025
  • Built Backstage golden paths and reusable Terraform modules used by 250+ engineers, cutting new-service provisioning from 12 days to under 1.
  • Shipped an AI pull-request reviewer (Claude Code, GitHub Actions) that checks diffs against Jira acceptance criteria, flags exposed credentials, and returns Unknown rather than guessing; 70+ repos, up from 30.
  • Wired read-only and namespace-scoped mutating MCP servers so agents can query cluster state and execute changes, with RBAC, plan review, and PR approval gates.
  • Moved 50+ microservices onto ArgoCD and Helm as the org's GitOps standard, replacing scheduled and ad-hoc releases with peer-reviewed deploys.
  • Cut Kubernetes compute costs 25 to 35% by replacing Cluster Autoscaler with Karpenter and moving eligible non-production workloads to Spot, keeping On-Demand for critical services.
  • Rebuilt the EKS dev cluster as 50+ Terraform-managed resources on private IPv6 subnets, moving every change to OIDC-authenticated plan-on-PR with zero disruption.
  • Set up self-hosted EFK logging with parallel S3 archival, keeping log durability independent of search availability when Elasticsearch stopped accepting writes.

Komodo Health

New York, NY · Oct 2019 to Aug 2023

Healthcare data and analytics platform

  • DevOps Engineer, Cloud InfrastructureJun 2021 to Aug 2023
  • Junior DevOps EngineerOct 2019 to May 2021
  • Ran AWS infrastructure for healthcare data analytics across development, staging, and production, with least-privilege IAM, KMS encryption, and Secrets Manager under HIPAA.
  • Automated provisioning with reusable Terraform modules for networking, IAM, compute, and storage, standardizing 30+ environments across the organization.
  • Built 15+ CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI, Jenkins, Docker, and Helm, standardizing how services were tested, packaged, and released.
  • Containerized legacy applications onto Kubernetes, standardizing Docker images and Helm releases across engineering teams.
  • Added Prometheus and Grafana monitoring and alerting, giving on-call engineers visibility into application and infrastructure health.
